Super serious game day predictions, round 2: Thumb Wars
1, 2, 3, 4…we declare thumb war. 5, 6, 7, 8…blah blah, game day’s here, and we’re excited about it!
Last week, we calculated rivalry predictions via ping-pong match, and sure enough, Alabama brought it home! This week, it was two chairs, two tables, and two thumbs to predict four schools that will dominate their football games this weekend. We asked TOMS employees to step up, choose a school to rep, and put their dominant thumb to use in two intense match-ups.
First in the ring we’ve got Jen (Penn State) and Tyler (Virginia). Admittedly, Jen worried her little hands wouldn’t withstand the fight. Snaking left; flying right, Jen dodged Tyler’s quick thumb offense. But Tyler came out victorious despite the challenge. And it was UVA for the win!
Still a little hurt from last week’s loss, Kari (East Carolina) challenged Tracy (South Carolina) in the next match. Kari definitely brought her a-game this week. We’re not sure if it was skill or her insane thumb bends that won the game but Kari pinned Tracy’s thumb in no time. It’s the ECU Pirates’ game this week – ARRRRRRRR!

Matt (UCLA) is a real-life Bruins fan, so he was more than ready to take on David (Nebraska). Matt moved up the Bruin scale to superfan when he dominated David, thumb-to-thumb, in the longest match of the day. Thus, UCLA – our bet’s on you.
For the final match-up, Alicia (Georgia) and Sarah (Missouri) met at the bleachers, all fired up. For a first-time contender, we think Alicia put up a good fight, holding out for a good 20 seconds before Sarah finally looped around the back of Alicia’s thumb and brought it down. Looks like Mizzou will make their home field proud with the win on Saturday.
And that’s a wrap with this week’s predictions. Good luck to all the teams playing this weekend…happy game day!
