This World Sight Day, we wanted the community to have a better understanding of visual impairment and the challenges it puts forth for those we serve through TOMS Eyewear and One for One.

So, rather than asking you guys to go one day without seeing (that sounds dangerous, doesn’t it?), we developed these distortion frames and put them out on the streets.

Look through one and get a sense for what it would be like to have cataracts or glaucoma. Ask your friend to stand on the other side—what would it be like if you couldn’t see them clearly?  285 million people worldwide suffer from visual impairment, 80% of these cases can be prevented or cured and that’s what World Sight Day is all about: awareness.

If you come across one of these frames in your city, we hope you’ll take a photo of what you see through it and share with us. Tag the city you’re in and tell us what you’re looking at. And of course, include #GIVEsight so we can find it!

Join the global movement for World Sight Day on October 11, 2012 and help bring awareness to this solvable world issue. Click here {http://www.toms.com/world-sight-day} to learn more.
