World Sight Day: A look back
A huge thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s World Sight Day. Our goal was to raise awareness about the sheer magnitude of blindness and visual impairment as well as how treatable these conditions are. And we were amazed at your response.
Every poster that was hung, every tweet that was sent and every video that was shared contributed to the conversation about this very solvable crisis. We saw thousands of #GIVEsight messages over the past few weeks.

The response on the ground was incredible as well. We set up special visual distortion frames on sidewalks in several big cities (including London, New York, L.A., Toronto and Manila), and busy pedestrians around the world stopped and took a moment to see first-hand what it’s like to have glaucoma and cataracts.

And yesterday with Seva Foundation and Helen Keller International’s domestic program, ChildSight®, we went to a middle school in downtown Manhattan and gave more than 200 students vision tests – providing more than 50 kids with new prescription glasses. Then we capped off the day with a special event in Austin’s Symphony Square featuring artwork inspired by World Sight Day. Thanks again for helping spread the word.
