Today is World Sight Day. We unite in the fight to raise awareness for those who are visually impaired – and don’t have to be.

Every year on World Sight Day people join together to bring attention to the 285 million people that are blind or visually impaired. 90% of these people live in developing countries, with limited access to high-quality and  sustainable eye care.  Children are unnecessarily struggling in school and adults are forced to stop working as their vision declines.  Blindness and visual impairment can push families deeper into poverty and yet 80% of all of these people can be treated.

Today is a global effort, led by VISION2020, with the aggressive goal of preventing 100 MILLION people from becoming blind.  The main causes of blindness in the world can be avoided with available resources and treatment.

World Sight Day is the day we say - we can end this.

TOMS is honored that our community is joining global nonprofits, health organizations, sustainable eye care programs, and professional associations in such important work.  Together, we are helping ensure that people regain their sight, improve their lives, and have access to high-quality eye care for generations to come.
