Here’s a phrase that rings loud & clear within the walls of TOMS HQ, and have kind of played on repeat for the 6+ years TOMS has been around:
A daily reminder
Carpe Diem. Seize the day: It’s the personal motto of TOMS Founder and Chief Shoe Giver Blake Mycoskie.
What “Carpe Diem” means to Blake
“When I was 20 and starting my first business, I began using this phrase at the end of all the letters that I sent out…What I love about ‘carpe diem’ is the idea that every day presents us with moments, some big and some small, to live life a little more fully; to express our passions and creativity; to actively run toward our fears…These little moments build upon each other, and before you know it, small acts of courage help to define incredible movements and personal growth. So ‘carpe diem’ really is a state of mind and a reminder of what’s possible.”
As part of the 12 Days of Giving limited edition collection, we’ve engraved his favorite inspiring phrase (in Blake’s own handwriting) onto a hand-polished pendant that hangs from a waxed cotton cord, so you can wear it and live it, too.
