The TOMS family is diverse. Stroll through the common areas at HQ and you’ll hear a mix of European accents and Southern twangs. And one of the best parts about a family of people from near and far is learning about different traditions and celebrations.

For this Lunar New Year, Justin, on our Giving Team, contributed his story for us to share with you:

“For the last 23 years, the weekend before Chinese New Year in Chinatown, San Francisco, the Fong family would make the drive from Sacramento to sell traditional Chinese fruits and flowers for the New Year.  My grandfather plants, tends, and harvests Chinese grapefruit (pomelos), quince blossoms, tangerines, and kumquat plants!  Each year, four generations of our extended family—including grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, cousins and their kids—come together to ring in the New Year with this unique tradition.

For all of those celebrating the Lunar New Year, Happy New Year!
