I stink.
By Blake Mycoskie, TOMS founder/chief shoe giver
I’m almost at my goal of raising $2,000 to fund sustainable water systems in Kenya, but — as you may have already heard — I’m not going to take a shower until I hit that goal.
I’m taking part in something called a shower strike, and I started last Friday, March 22nd, on World Water Day. I’ll admit, I’m having a pretty funny time with it, but the people who love me and have to hang out with me aren’t thrilled.
I stink.
Help me help Well Aware World fund water projects in Kenya. Please donate to my shower strike campaign! Here’s my page: http://toms.sh/10L6Hqs
Thanks in advance — from everyone around me.
Carpe Diem,
Blake

World Water Day

By Blake Mycoskie, TOMS founder/chief shoe giver
Today, March 22nd is World Water Day, and I write to you from Austin, TX, where I’m celebrating in the company of people who I really feel have the power to make a difference on this planet. If you decide from here to join me in fundraising for clean water systems, then I’m also celebrating with you — another person I know can make a big impact by doing simple things.
Every year since 1993, people have observed World Water Day to focus on the need for freshwater accessibility and to and advocate for sustainable management of freshwater resources. The UN declared this year’s theme to be water cooperation, which brings me to my main point:
This World Water Day, I am following the wise, fun, important directives of not one but two of my favorite initiatives, both in the business of providing water to people in need.
