In the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), TOMS Giving Partner, Eastern Congo Initiative (ECI) takes a community-based approach to change, and incorporates TOMS Shoes into part of its deeply integrative programming. Founded by Ben Affleck in 2010, ECI is an advocacy and grant-making organization that works with and for the people of DRC, the third most populous country in Africa, and one that struggled under a cycle of violence for nearly 20 years – particularly in the east.

Our philosophy & mission statement: With every purchase, TOMS will help a person in need. One for One.
And TOMS Shoes were the foundation for all of it. True to the same promise since the day TOMS was born: with every pair of TOMS Shoes purchased, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need.
Our approach: Where we give is driven by the needs our Giving Partners —- the organizations that include the One for One give into their holistic programming — identify on the ground. We work closely with them to add new communities and countries where shoes will have the greatest impact.
This map shows the 50+ countries where we give TOMS Shoes, powered by your purchases; but that give often exceeds the literal One for One.
